CSIR has notified a total of 43 Technician (1) vacancies, provisional in number and subject to change. Of these, 4 posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) on a horizontal basis, and 2 posts are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

For every trade code (260101 to 260110), the essential qualification follows the same pattern — any one of the following:

• SSC/10th standard or equivalent with Science subjects, minimum 55% marks, plus an ITI certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the relevant trade; OR
• SSC/10th standard or equivalent with Science subjects, minimum 55% marks, plus 2 years of full-time experience as an apprentice trainee from a recognised institution in the relevant trade; OR
• SSC/10th standard or equivalent with Science subjects, minimum 55% marks, plus 3 years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Ministry/Department/Organization/PSU/Autonomous Body under the Government of India/State/UT.

The relevant trade for each post code is: COPA (260101), Desktop Publishing Operator (260102), Computer Hardware & Network Maintenance (260103), Medical Lab Technician (260104), Draughtsman-Architecture (260105), Instrument Mechanic (260106), Draughtsman-Mechanical (260107), Draughtsman-Civil (260108), Laboratory Assistant in Chemical Plant (260109), and Interior Designer (260110). Educational qualifications must be from a recognised Board/Institution/University, with final results declared on or before the closing date.

Age Limit (as on 17 September 2026)

The upper age limit is 28 years as on the closing date for online applications.

Age Relaxation

SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against unreserved (UR) vacancies are not eligible for age relaxation. Candidates covered under SC/ST/OBC who also qualify under ESM or PwBD are eligible for cumulative age relaxation under both categories.

CSIR Technician Salary Details & Pay Scale 2026

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates receive House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Travelling Allowance at Central Government rates applicable to CSIR employees. Other benefits include Leave Travel Concession, medical expense reimbursement, and Children's Education Allowance, as per CSIR rules. Accommodation may be provided subject to availability (HRA not admissible where accommodation is provided). Paper-wise Break-up

The syllabus for the Trade Test and Paper-III (Concerned Subject) will be notified separately on the official CSIR website. In case of a tie in aggregate marks, resolution follows a defined order: higher marks in the trade paper, fewer negative marks in the trade paper, fewer overall negative marks, older date of birth, earlier date of acquiring the essential degree, and finally alphabetical order.

Selection Process

Selection for CSIR Technician (1) posts follows a multi-stage process, and the final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III:

• Screening of Applications by Screening Committee
• Trade Test (Qualifying in nature)
• Competitive Written Examination — Paper-I, Paper-II, Paper-III
• Final Merit List (based on Paper-II & Paper-III marks)

Minimum threshold marks for the Trade Test and each paper are fixed by the Selection Committee. Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for candidates who clear the Paper-I threshold.

The fee, once paid, is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other examination or recruitment process. Candidates applying for multiple post codes must pay the fee separately for each post code applied to.

2. Click "Apply Online" and register with your name, email address, and mobile number to receive a User ID and password.
3. Complete your profile — Gender, Date of Birth, Marital Status, Category, PwBD status, Ex-Serviceman status, and Govt./CSIR employee status. Once locked, these details cannot be changed.
4. Fill the application form across its 6 tabs — Apply, Personal Details, Education, Experience, Additional Details, Uploads, and Preview & Submit.
5. Upload the scanned photograph, live photo capture, signature, and PDF certificates as specified.
6. Pay the applicable fee of ₹500 online via SBI Collect and upload the e-Receipt before the closing date.
