Eligibility Criteria 2026
Educational Qualification
Educational qualification for Group-D posts is governed by the Punjab State (Group-D) Service Rules, 1963, as amended:
- Matriculation standard, with Punjabi language as one of the subjects, from a recognized educational institution.
- This educational qualification condition does not apply to: (i) blind persons; (ii) riot/terrorist-affected persons; (iii) persons appointed as Sweeper.
- Separately, all candidates must pass a qualifying Punjabi Language test equivalent to Matriculation standard with a minimum of 50% marks — this is mandatory and qualifying in nature; failing to secure 50% in this test disqualifies the candidate from the final merit list regardless of their score in other papers.

| Minimum Age (all categories) | 18 Years |
| Maximum Age (General category) | 37 Years |

PSSSB Group-D Salary Details & Pay Scale 2026
| Particulars | Details |
|---|---|
| Pay Scale | ₹18,000 – ₹56,900 per month |
| Pay Level | Level-1, 7th Central Pay Commission |
Initial pay and other allowances are governed by the Punjab Finance Department (Personnel-1 Branch) letter No. 7/204/2012-4FP1/66 dated 15.01.2015, and subsequent instructions issued from time to time.
Selection Process
Selection for PSSSB Group-D Recruitment 2026 is through an Objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions) written examination, in two parts:
- Part A: Matriculation-standard Punjabi language paper — qualifying in nature only; candidates must score a minimum of 50% to qualify
- Part B: Determines the merit list; each question carries 1 mark, with negative marking of 1/4 mark for each wrong answer
The Common Merit List is prepared based solely on Part-B marks. In case of a tie in Part-B marks, the candidate with the earlier date of birth (older in age) ranks higher; if age is also equal, the candidate with a higher percentage in the required educational qualification ranks higher. Candidates are shortlisted from the merit list for document verification/counseling; the number called is decided by the Board. Successful candidates at counseling are recommended to the respective department as per the Common Merit List and category-wise post availability.
Admit cards are issued only online via the Board's website; the exam pattern/syllabus is also uploaded there. Qualifying in the exam, appearing for counseling, or featuring in the merit list does not by itself guarantee recommendation for a post — eligibility must be proven with documents.

| SC / BC / EWS | ₹250 |
| Ex-Servicemen & Dependent | ₹200 |
