Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Essential: Applicants must be Indian Nationals holding a Graduate or Post-Graduate degree in Law from a recognized university, college, or institution of national or international repute, and/or be a qualified Chartered Accountant. Candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in the 3-year LLB, the 5-year integrated LLB program, their Post-Graduation, or hold a qualified CA credential.

Job Description
Young Professionals will be attached to the office of the Commissioners of Income Tax (DR) and/or Senior Departmental Representatives at the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. Their core responsibilities include studying paper books of listed cases, analysing judgements cited by the assessee, locating judgements favourable to the department, identifying distinguishing facts wherever relevant, and preparing briefing notes and written submissions. They will also carry out research and study on specific points as directed by their mentor — the concerned CIT(DR) or Senior DR, who will provide an orientation on expected deliverables at the time of joining.

Other Terms & Conditions
- The engagement is purely contractual and does not constitute a regular job or an employer-employee relationship with the Income Tax Department.
- Basic logistical support — workspace, internet, stationery, library access, and computer systems — will be provided.
- Young Professionals get 8 days of leave per calendar year, accrued monthly on a pro-rata basis; unavailed leave does not carry forward, and there's no remuneration for absence beyond 8 days in a year.
- Continuous absence of 8 days without information or valid reason leads to automatic termination of the engagement.
- The engagement may be discontinued anytime by the department without assigning a reason, though one month's notice is normally given; a Young Professional wishing to leave must similarly give one month's notice to their mentor.
- No compensation is payable to the Young Professional or their dependents/legal heirs in the event of death, injury, or illness during the engagement.
- Prior sanction from the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax is required before publishing any book, article, or participating in any broadcast related to information gathered during the assignment.
- The Young Professional is bound by the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923, and must sign a Declaration of Secrecy and Non-Disclosure Agreement before reporting for duty.
- The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013 applies to this engagement.
- Violation of any of the above conditions will lead to disengagement of the applicant.
